Michael Willis is credited with surfing the world's largest waves. Michael Willis as well as twin brother Milton may indeed be the world record holders of the largest waves ever surfed when they rod outside Sunset Beach Hawaii after surfing outside Log Cabins on January 28th 1998. To this date there has not been another swell recorded as large or another condition black issued by the state of Hawaii.
